Set to make first appearance in 250MX series this weekend.
Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cole Davies will make his long-awaited Pro Motocross debut at this Saturday’s Unadilla National, which will mark the teenager’s first gate-drop since the crashing out of the Monster Energy Supercross finals in May.
A frightening clash with Jordon Smith (Triumph Factory Racing) during the season finale in Salt Lake City saw the duo collide during a rhythm lane in 250SX West qualifying, leaving Davies with a broken arm and nose in the aftermath of the collision.
Having returned to riding five weeks ago, the 250 revelation is set to get his feet wet in the ultra-competitive 250MX division, beginning with the long, sweeping ruts and technical race track of Unadilla this weekend.
“It’s been a long time since my last gate drop, but we’re back and at Unadilla of all places,” commented Davies. “We’ve had five weeks on the bike since my injury, and I’m feeling solid thanks to Swannie [Gareth Swanepoel] and the Star Yamaha crew. Let’s keep it clean and keep building.”
Davies captured two main event wins and third overall in 250SX West this season and earned the coveted Rookie of the Year award in the class, with intrigue growing as to whether he can convert that indoor prowess into outdoor results.
Star Racing and Yamaha have also announced that amateur team prospect Caden Dudney will make his first professional start at Unadilla this weekend.
