Next weekend’s high-profile MXGP of Australia in Darwin will be broadcast live across the nation, with a deal struck for both free-to-air television and streaming platforms on race-day Sunday, September 21.

Fans in Sydney, Brisbane, and Darwin can tune into 9Gem for live action, while Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth audiences will be able to watch live on 9Rush. The free-to-air service will only feature each of the two premier-class MXGP races.

In addition, subscription platform Stan Sport – which airs MXGP fulltime throughout the season – will showcase four hours of live coverage on Sunday, which will include both the MXGP and MX2 racing live. Saturday will be accessible through MXGP-TV.com.

The return of MXGP to Australia for the first time in 24 years will see international stars Romain Febvre, Jeffrey Herlings, Tim Gajser, Lucas Coenen, Kay de Wolf, and Simon Laengenfelder headline the world-class field on the purpose-built circuit located at Hidden Valley Raceway, combined with a list of domestic wildcards. MXGP, MX2 and MXW will all be contested.

“We are excited to be working with the Northern Territory Major Events Company and providing Gravity Media’s broadcast and technology capabilities for this year’s MXGP of Australia,” said Gravity Media sales director Ben Madgwick. “We are committed to delivering an exceptional outcome for this world-class event.”

Northern Territory Major Events Company executive director Aimee Luxton added: “We are thrilled to bring the excitement of the Darwin event to the rest of the country. In addition to the Australian audience, MXGP of Australia will also be broadcast to more than 100 countries and a potential audience of over 700 million.”

This year’s event will also feature a round of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship (WMX) for the first time in Australia, alongside State of Origin-style support races in MX3 and MX85, adding a local showcase to the global spectacle.
